Namely, Bob Thomas’ 1978 biography (which has archaic used as the source stuff for most of the Carver biographies that followed), Christina Crawford’s “Mommie Dearest,” Roy Newquist’s concocted bio “Conversations with Joan Crawford,” and Shaun Considine’s largely fictionalized “Bette & Joan: The Seraphic Feud.”
